【2009年小倉2歳Ｓ】メイショウヘミングから学ぶこと～馬名・レース名・地名・植物～

9月6日号の競馬ブック、小倉2歳Ｓのページの大見出しはこうだった。
「秋の到来を告げるパガニーニの鐘　スピード抜群メイショウヘミング」
無学な私には、わからなかった。
パガニーニ＝作曲家　ヘミング＝フジコ・ヘミング？
くらいまでは思いついたのだが...。

そこで調べてみた。
パガニーニの「鐘（ラカンパネラ）」という曲があり、フジコ・ヘミング氏はこの曲を十八番にしているのだという。
なるほど。
ついでにラカンパネラもどこかで聞いたことがあると思って調べてみれば、2000年頃の未勝利馬に、そういう名前の馬がたしかにいた。
そのときに学んでおけば、今回のこの応用問題も解けたことだろう。

思うに、競馬というのは本当に勉強になる。
馬名・レース名から、語学、地名、誕生石、季節の植物など様々なことを学ぶことができる。
教育ママ・パパが増える昨今、お子様の情操教育に競馬はいかがだろうか？
それは冗談としても、あらゆる人の教材であれるほどに、競馬が文化的なものであってほしいと、日頃思っている。

競馬ブックも、例えばすずらん賞のページには、すずらんという植物について紹介してくれていたりするが、
こういった雑学的記事はもっと増えてくれてよいように思う。
そうすれば、より趣をもって、競馬をさらに深く楽しむことができると思う。
また、普段の生活の全然関係のないときに、ふと競馬に思いをはせることができたりもする。
以前ハワイを訪れたときに宿泊したホテルが、リリウオカラニ通りに面していたときは、妙に感動したものだ。

競馬ブックにて読ませていただきました。
実は自分もハワイに行った時にリリウオカラニ像をみて感激しました。
ま、そこでリリウオカラニが牝馬だと知ったんですけどね（笑）
１度「函館で行われる特別レース名の地を全制覇の旅」を計画し、基坂（もといざか）に行って写真を撮ってみたことがあります。この計画、三日と持ちませんでしたが（笑）

そのテの雑学が確実に増えた気がします。

難読な名所も読めるようになりますね。
秋保、売布とか、帆柱山はそうでもないか。

それだけにメイクデビューという、教養にもろ反した？
ネーミングセンスだけは未だにいただけませんが、
あれ何とかなりませんかね。
